My Journey

I’ve always believed: it doesn’t matter the job—be the best at what you do.

Wherever I work, I excel and earn opportunities. I strive to be the best—and I demand excellence from my teams.

Throughout my life, I have always strived for excellence. It was instilled in me from my upbringing, and in nearly every setting, I have met that standard. I cannot settle for the middle of the pack or anything less than my best.

At 16, my work ethic began on the block line as a masonry laborer in the Rust Belt of western Pennsylvania—mixing and shoveling mortar, carrying cement blocks with calloused hands. When others could carry more, I would run with what I could manage to hold.

It was there that I was taught to never be outworked.

I became a captain on my high school hockey team after walking on as a freshman, competing against peers who had played the game their entire lives.

In college, my dedication at WIUP-TV earned me the Senior of the Year award, recognizing the countless hours I poured into creating content at our student-run station.

While I was senior at IUP, I was the only student trusted as a stringer at WJAC-TV, which led to an internship—and ultimately, my first professional job.

At WAVY-TV, my second professional opportunity and first experience in a larger market, it took just one year of strong mentorship for me to be recognized as one of the best in my profession in the entire United States.

I carried that standard forward at KING-TV in Seattle, where I was named among the nation’s top five photojournalists for several consecutive years.

Leadership opportunities soon followed. At WTHR-TV, notably the youngest person on staff, I guided the team to be recognized as one of the best storytelling stations in America—achieving the first such honor in the station’s history, a distinction that had not been repeated since my departure.

I learned, being great at a craft doesn’t automatically make you a great leader, and that is something I have taken pride in perfecting.

KING-TV came calling again, this time for a high-profile leadership role alongside the newsroom’s top executives—a position I have now held for over a decade. KING is a special place admired across the industry—a beacon of light in a challenging field.

As a leader, my focus shifted to teaching others to be excellent while continuing to produce award-winning content myself, consistently upholding the highest standards of our profession. During my time there, we led the nation in visual storytelling, innovation, and local journalism. We won all the awards—and we still do.

Wherever I work, I excel and earn opportunities. I strive to be the best—and I demand excellence and accountability from my teams.

No matter the role—whether staff member or manager—excellence and leadership have always been my guiding principles.
